Stephen Few has worked for 30 years as an information technology innovator, teacher, and consultant. Today, as Principal of the consultancy Perceptual Edge, he is an international leader in the field of data visualization who focuses on its practical means to explore, analyze, and communicate quantitative information.
We live in an “information economy,” yet the organizations that broker of this economy rarely serve as good models for using information. Decisions are often made without a sound understanding of the data and without clear communication to inform decision makers. This problem undermines performance, yet it is rarely diagnosed and almost never treated. Few is working to raise consciousness and provide a practical treatment plan. His first book, Show Me the Numbers, addresses the data presentation aspects of this problem. His second, Information Dashboard Design, applies best practices of visual design to information monitoring displays. His third, Now You See It, teaches simple visualization techniques for discovering and making sense of the stories that live in data.
Located in Berkeley, California, Few writes the quarterly Visual Business Intelligence Newsletter and speaks, teaches, and consults internationally. More information about his current work can be found at www.perceptualedge.com.
